Introduction

We’re back with another update on what’s new in Hexiosec Transfer.

Over the last couple of months, we’ve been working on giving you greater visibility into activity across your account, more ways to manage and secure access, and better insight into how your organisation uses Hexiosec Transfer.

This update introduces new audit and reporting capabilities, a history of changes within Spaces, additional single sign-on support, easier access to previously visited Spaces and Forms, and more control over the passwords used to protect links.

Here’s what’s new.

Audit log and export

Understanding what’s happening across your organisation is an important part of managing a secure file transfer environment.

With the new audit log, you can review events that have occurred across your Hexiosec Transfer account in one place. Rather than searching through individual areas of the application, you can use the audit log to get a clearer picture of activity across your organisation.

To make it easier to find the information you need, events can be filtered by date range, event type or individual user. You can also export the audit log, making it easier to retain records, investigate activity and support internal auditing and compliance processes.

Access to the audit log is restricted to authorised users, helping ensure that account-wide activity information is available to the appropriate people.

New reporting capabilities

We’ve introduced a range of reports to give organisations greater insight into how Hexiosec Transfer is being used.

The new reports cover several areas, including:

  • Monthly usage summaries – see an overview of the usage of Files, Spaces and Forms across your organisation each month.
  • Detailed transfer usage – review actual usage of Files, Spaces and Forms; an itemised view of how the platform is being used.
  • Per user usage – understand the usage of Hexiosec Transfer for individual users, allowing you to ensure the correct people have licenses, and their usage is appropriate.

Together, these reports make it easier to review usage patterns, understand how your organisation is using Transfer and access the information needed for internal reporting.

Reports are available only to authorised users, ensuring that detailed account usage and session information remains restricted to the appropriate people.

Space history

Spaces provide a secure place for ongoing collaboration and document exchange. As work progresses, it’s useful to understand how the contents of a Space have changed over time.

Space history gives you visibility into changes made within an individual Space, including documents and folders being added, renamed or deleted.

This makes it easier to understand how a Space has evolved, review previous activity and see what has changed without having to rely on memory or manually track updates.

Whether you’re managing a client project, a case or an ongoing exchange of sensitive documents, Space history provides a clearer view of activity within that workspace.

Auth0 single sign-on support

We’ve expanded our single sign-on (SSO) options with support for Auth0, alongside our existing integrations with Microsoft Entra and Google Workspace.

SSO allows organisations to manage authentication through their chosen identity provider, helping provide a consistent sign-in experience for users and making it easier to integrate Transfer into existing identity management arrangements.

With Auth0 now supported, organisations using it as their identity provider have another option for integrating Hexiosec Transfer into their existing authentication setup.

Easier access to Spaces and Forms you’ve visited

We’ve also made it easier to return to Spaces and Forms that you’ve accessed previously, even when you don’t own them.

Previously, finding a Space or Form you had visited but didn’t own could mean locating the original link again. Now, once you’ve visited a Space or Form link while logged in, it will be available from your items list.

This gives you a more convenient way to return to ongoing work without having to search through emails or ask someone to send the link again.

It’s a small change that makes working with shared Spaces and Forms more straightforward, particularly when you regularly collaborate with colleagues, clients or external partners.

Minimum password lengths for Transfers

Users have always been able to add a password to their Transfers to provide an additional layer of security when sharing files or using spaces or forms.

We’ve now introduced an account-level setting that allows each customer to specify the minimum password length required for their users. This helps organisations establish a consistent baseline for Transfer passwords in line with their own security requirements. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to change yours from the default of 10.

Coming soon

Over the next couple of months we have lots more exciting things planned:

  • User management - an enhanced capability for managers to invite new users and assign roles so that users only have access to what they need, completely self-service.
  • Self-service Team and Business plans - new and existing Team and Business customers will be able to completely manage their own accounts without contacting Hexiosec support. Everything from the initial account set-up, payment, and adding and removing licences will all be self-service.
  • Better visibility of usage information - we’ll be better surfacing the usage information to account managers so you can understand how you’re tracking against your allowances.
