Summary
Analysing current and planned usage, and with our knowledge of cloud management, we helped reduce customer cloud bills by almost 40% a year, all whilst maintaining security and functionality.
Client need
We worked with a bio-tech startup who were struggling to manage and monitor their AWS usage. They had existing workloads spread across multiple AWS accounts, each with separate billing and IAM.
Our approach
After understanding their current and planned requirements we could build them a fresh AWS organisation, tailored to the structure of their business. The new organisation uses centralised IAM, logging and billing. This allows for centralised management and usage analysis across the whole organisation.
We have a well-tested, templated approach to cloud builds. This means we can standardise what we do, as well as continually test and improve it.
Client benefit
Once the new organisation was established, it became clear that there were opportunities for cost reductions.
We worked with them to analyse the highest cost resources and for the static, long-term resources designed and purchased AWS savings plans. These savings plans see a ~37% reduction on those AWS compute costs for our customer.
