Custom Radio Firmware

Summary
We delivered a custom radio firmware application for a UK defence contractor, which added a new survey capability to their existing product suite. It has been successfully deployed to their military customers.
Client need
We worked with an expert team of Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) product engineers to deliver a new, critical component for a broader suite of radio survey capabilities.
What we did
The design and development required experience and expertise in both the software and embedded firmware components of a Zynq-based IP subsystem. We helped them define the interface for the component, utilising reserved memory within a Petalinux runtime environment for configuration, and high-bandwidth DMA for bulk data transfer. The resulting designs were delivered as generic VHDL components to allow for seamless integration within their engineering process.
Client benefit
The delivered designs allowed their teams to focus on developing the platform to support the suite of capabilities required by their end customers, whilst retaining development ownership of important aspects of the design.
